LEJ Statement of Principles

LEJ is a business incubator for lawyers and LLPs committed to building socially conscious, client-centered law practices. Participants create market-driven solutions to serve low- and moderate-income clients*, developing innovative models that leverage technology, referral networks, and flexible service offerings.

LEJ attorneys and LLPs are dedicated to building practices that:

  • Serve Underserved Communities – Focus on areas of law where access to affordable legal help is limited.

  • Prioritize Client Perspectives – Deliver services with empathy, collaboration, and a focus on client goals.

  • Offer Flexible, Affordable Options – Use fixed fees, alternative pricing, and limited-scope representation to provide fairness, transparency, and choice.

  • Leverage Technology for Efficiency – Streamline legal services to reduce costs and improve accessibility.

Our Approach

Participants commit to:

  • Collaborating with fellow LEJ participants and partner organizations.

  • Engaging in efforts to improve the legal profession and justice system.

  • Designing economically sustainable and replicable delivery models to serve Colorado’s legal consumers.

*LEJ’s target market is generally defined as people earning between 150% and 400% of the federal poverty level or the HUD Poverty Guideline Adjusted Extremely Low-Income Limits.
